BREAKING NEWS – Standerton business owners protest over use of Afrirent trucks

Local business owners say Afrirent must go.

The businessmen of Lekwa are currently holding a closed-door meeting with Lekwa municipal officials.

The employees of the Department of Public Works have not been allowed to return to work.

The locks on the Lekwa municipal building have been removed and employees returned to work.

Protesters forced Lekwa municipal workers to evacuate the building and locked both entrances.

They vowed that until their demands are met, the protest will go on.

Local business owners burned tyres at the main gate of Department of Public Works in Standerton since early this morning.

According to them, the Lekwa Municipality should cancel the Afrirent contract.

They want a local company to render the services or the municipality, to buy its own trucks.
