Govan Mbeki Municipality issued a statement last night regarding problems with consumers’ accounts.

“We continue to offer our sincere apology over the none issuing and incorrect billing over the past months which have caused a number of enquiries from members of the community who in some cases where able to get through to the relevant office that may assist them with their telephone enquiries regarding the state of their accounts.

“It is in light of the above that the municipality has temporarily allocated the below personnel and telephone lines to deal with enquires that are account related.

“This set up will be dissolved once the account challenges have been fully resolved which is anticipated to be by the end of September at the worst case.

“These numbers will operate between 7.30am and 4pm from Monday to Friday and we plead with our community to be patient and calm during this frustrating time.”
