Fetus found at the Sasol Dumping Site

Sasol security employees found a fetus at the Sasol Dumping Site on Sunday, 13 August when they were busy with recycling duties.

The fetus was found at about 2pm.

They immediately reported it to the Secunda Police who summoned Langamed South Ambulance Services.

It is suspected that the fetus, which was wrapped in a jersey, was dumped not long before because it was still warm.

It was certified dead by the paramedics.

W/O Thulane Gamede from Secunda Police Station confirmed the incident and said the fetus was taken to the Evander Government Mortuary by the government pathology services.

He said a case was opened, but no arrest has been made yet.

He urged the community to assist the police to trace the culprit.

W/O Gamede encouraged those who know someone who was pregnant, but is not any more to contact the police at 017 624 2000.
