Johan Wuchefennig (19) was sentenced to a year and five months’ imprisonment for housebreaking.

Police followed up on a burglary complaint in March and with the help from the CPF and neighbourhood watch, found the accused in a room during the house search.

He appeared in Bethal Magistrate’s Court several times in May.

Wuchefennig was again summoned to court, but failed to arrive.

A warrant of arrest was issued and he was arrested for failing to appear in court.

He reappeared in court and was found guilty of theft and housebreaking with the intent to steal.

Const Thomas Mogadime, Communications and Social Crime Prevention officer at Bethal SAPS, said: “We thank the community for a strong partnership to create a safer community by fighting crime together.”
