Smoke from a large veld fire between Kinross and Leandra is obscuring visibility on the N17 highway.
Vehicles wishing to pass through the Leandra toll gate are backed up and there are reports of more than one accident, due to the decreased visibility.
Motorists are urged to avoid the N17 highway between Secunda and Springs as there has been a multi-vehicle accident just before the Leandra toll gate.
The road is still obstructed and traffic in both directions is backed up.
No injuries have been confirmed yet, but emergency services are on the scene.
Visibility is poor due to smoke on the road and motorists who cannot avoid the route, should slow down and drive with caution as there are emergency workers and vehicles on the road.
