Top five Msukaligwa service delivery issues

What irritates Ermelo residents most about service delivery?

1.Power outages way too often leave residents in the dark.

Keeping the lights on has become a challenge for Msukaligwa Municipality. Poor maintenance due to financial restraints has been blamed for this problem. In some areas residents were left without electricity for days on end. Recently substations that exploded and broken cables were given as being the reason for electricity supply being interrupted just about every 10 minutes. The lack of funds is partially blamed on electricity theft and people not paying their bills.

2. No water in tap makes life miserable.

Jo-jo tanks in the backyard became a common thing in Ermelo as residents often open the tap and there is no water supply. Again poor maintenance that causes pipes to burst and a lack of funds are blamed for this problem.

3. Potholes in the streets of Ermelo cause headaches for motorists.

Getting from one point to the other through the streets of Ermelo without damaging your car or getting in the way of another car has really become a skill. Potholes everywhere has become a problem that becomes bigger by the day. Filling potholes with sand is not a solution to the problem as the first rain that falls washes the sand away.

4. The state of the local cemetery has become a sore eye to people visiting the graves of their loved ones.

Apart from the fact that it is no longer safe to visit the cemetery nothing is being done to the grass that grows over and between graves. Nothing has been done by the municipality to make it a safer and neater place.

5. Street lights not working.

In most of the streets in Ermelo street lights are not working at night. This is not only dangerous for drivers but also offers criminals a place to hide.
