Lebohang community stops the building of Jackie Manana School

Residents demand contracts and tenders are given to locals.

Residents demanded the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport give tenders to locals for the building of the Jackie Manana High School.

The project was stopped by the community after a company from Middelburg was given the contract to erect palisade fencing around the school.

A meeting was held between residents and delegates from the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport on 4 March and residents said they did not reach an agreement on the awarding of tenders and subcontract work.

The Ridge Times contacted the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport last week to find out whether the project will continue.

They did not comment.
