Parents and learners picket outside Thuto-Thebe Secondary School

The letter also states that learners, who cannot afford to pay the said amount, will be sent back home to fetch their parents.

Learners of Thuto-Thebe Secondary School, who failed to pay a R370 donation, were allegedly not allowed to attend classes last Wednesday and Thursday.

“The school called it a donation fee which is supposedly going to increase annually,” Ms Busisiwe Nkutha, a parent with two children at the school, said.

The letter also states that learners, who cannot afford to pay the said amount, will be sent back home to fetch their parents.

The parents and learners embarked on a protest outside the school gate last Thursday to hand a memorandum with a list of grievances to Mr Brown Maboa, principal.
