Thank you to the police

I’m very proud of what they have done.

I would like to thank the police for a job well done.

I went to visit my mom last Friday without leaving someone to look after our place, but unfortunately when we returned on Sunday about 5.20pm, a thief broke in and stole some of our belongings.

The gate was still locked, but when I came close to the house I saw the door was wide open.

I concluded that it was broken by thugs and first notified my neighbour.

I reported it to my brother-in-law, an investigating officer in town, and also to the police.

I received a call from my brother-in-law the following day asking me what kind of television was stolen.

He then said that they caught a suspicious person on the street next to Excel Garage carrying a television covered with a duvet who said it was his television that he was taking for repairs.

He was known by other officers as a thief, hence the suspicion.

They went to their office to check whether it was broken only to find that it was working and asked for the receipt or papers.

The man replied it was at his home.

They took him to the location to check the receipt and upon arrival at his girlfriend’s place he ran away and left them there.

They came to tell me that the suspect was my neighbour’s son and checked his shack next door, but didn’t find anything.

They asked his girlfriend whether she recognised the duvet that was used to cover the television and she said it was her boyfriend’s duvet.

The officers left and he returned afterwards as if nothing had happened.

His older brother brought him to me and I called officer Tsotetsi, who was handling my case, and they caught him and confessed that he stole my belongings and sold it to other people in Ext 9.

They went with him to collect all my goods and when I knocked-off yesterday, officer Tsotetsi said I must go to the police station to collect my valuables.

I am so thankful to God.

I would like to thank all the investigating officers who worked together to get my belongings back.

I’m very proud of what they have done and would like to warn the community not to leave their homes unattended during this festive season because thugs are busy with house-breaking.

Thank you again, I really appreciate it.
