Noluthando’s dream comes true

Noluthando is a finalist for the Miss Teen Mpumalanga Beauty Pageant

eMZINONI – Putting her sweaty palms into her jacket pockets, the girl nervously entered the audition room for selection to become a finalist of the Miss Mpumalanga Teen Beauty Pageant.

Three people had to determine whether she was special enough to be called Miss Mpumalanga Teen.

This frightening moment was a defining moment for the 15-year-old Noluthando Mabuza.

On this day she was selected as a finalist of the provincial beauty pageant.

“I can still recall how I waited impatiently for the results.

“It was not a nice feeling, but I was called eventually and was told I was selected.

“I was very emotional and thanked God for this golden opportunity.”

However, she believes God has planned this day and she is excited that she is now a real model in the professional world.

Noluthando began modelling at the age of 10.

This came after many years of exclusion, disappointment and rejection.

Noluthando said things changed when she met her mentor, Thandeka Mathibela, who encouraged and taught her to take modelling serious.

“I convinced my mom to take me for an audition for the Miss Mpumalanga Teen Beauty Pageant and she agreed.

“I will work hard to succeed, though I know it will be a tough competition.”

Noluthando is a Grade 10 learner from Hoërskool Hoogenhout and wants to study radiology after Grade 12.

This energetic, down-to-earth model aspires to have her own modelling agency at age 20.

She wishes to empower other girls and bring back the dignity and the respect of women.
