Explosion in Secunda leaves one injured

One man was transported to hospital.

SECUNDA – A man was injured in an explosion earlier tonight in Abraham Jonker Street in Secunda.

A vehicle was also destroyed in the incident. Various residents reported that they heard a loud explosion.

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency services found a bakkie that had been torn apart by the shock wave of an explosion.

One man was transported to hospital.

Police are investigating the matter. The cause of the explosion is still unknown.

The bakkie was parked on the side of the road.

No other property was damaged.

Police officers removed a gas cannister from the scene but it is unclear if this cannister was removed for safety reasons, or whether it was involved in the explosion.
