Resident spots man’s lifeless body in Vaal River

Information surrounding the incident is vague, but it is alleged by passersby that the man drowned.

FOLLOW UP – 2.30pm

Mr Déodat Prenzler and Const Zimu (Standerton Police), recovered the lifeless body of the man moments ago.

The body was received by the forensic team who waited on the river bank.

FOLLOW UP – 2.35pm

Me. Antonette Keyter, Standerton Advertiser journalist, is currently on the scene.

According to information received, authorities waited for a boat in order to recover the man’s body from the river.

There are also several bystanders who flocked to the scene.


A resident requested help on Kasselman Whatsapp Group after she spotted a man’s lifeless body in the Vaal River.

The man’s body was seen near the old steel bridge next to the Meyerville Bridge.

Kasselman, members of the Traffic Department and members of the Standerton police rushed to the scene to investigate.

Information surrounding the incident is vague, but it is alleged by passersby that the man drowned.

The Advertiser could not establish whether any foul play was suspected, but as soon as more information is gathered, residents will be notified.

The man’s identity is not yet known to the Standerton Advertiser
