Update: Man arrested in Secunda

Herdsmen apparently had an argument.

SECUNDA – Detectives from Secunda Police arrested a 54-year-old man on Wednesday afternoon, 5 October.

He was arrested in connection with a body that was found in the veld next to the road between Secunda and Evander on 4 October.

According to Capt Bettina Zondo, communications officer for the Secunda Police Station, the man was arrested following an in-depth investigation by detectives.

“They received information about a possible altercation between the deceased and the suspect.

Detectives went to the area where it was believed the deceased had worked, and arrested the man.”

It is believed that both men were working as herdsmen in the area and that they had a disagreement which resulted in the death of the deceased.

The police are in the process of charging the suspect with murder.

He will appear in Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 7 October.
