Locals excel in national competition

GS SIbande College commend students for performing well in debate competition.

EVANDER – Students from Gert Sibande College excelled in the recent Department of Higher Education and Training’s (DHET) Inaugural National Debating Competition in KwaZulu-Natal.

Ms Lindiwe Radebe, an NCV Level 3 student from the Standerton Campus, and Ms Khanyi Jaceni, an NCV Level 4 student from the Evander campus, were selected to represent Gert Sibande TVET College.

They formed part of the Mpumalanga debating team that won the DHET Inaugural National Debating competition.

The team from Mpumalanga comprised two students from each of the three sister colleges, namely Nkangala, Ehlanzeni and Gert Sibande TVET Colleges.

The Gert Sibande team was accompanied by Mr Nkambule, Student Support officer at the Ermelo campus, and English lecturers, Mr Ndlovu from the Ermelo campus and Ms Khumalo and Ms Schnobel from the Evander campus.

Ms Rabebe shared her gratitude for the tremendous support the team received from Gert Sibande TVET College management and staff.

Ms Schoebel, lecturer who championed the team, was overwhelmed by her team’s performance and is confident that these young debaters will become distinguished leaders of tomorrow.
