Black smoke fills the air

Firefighters were inundated recently when alerted to veld fires at the Standerton Golf Club and the Waterfront Lodge.

According to them, there was no damage to property or loss of life during the blaze.

They said the personnel at the club alerted them about the fire, but the cause is unknown.

The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire successfully, but later the same day a tyre went up in flames near the golf course, close to the Vaal River.
