“Bishop” sworn in

"We say 'opportunities' for all the people and if that is the vision, you can be sure of our support"

Mr Solomon Msongelwa “Bishop” Nkosi was sworn in as the new Executive Mayor of Msukaligwa Local Municipality.

In his acceptance speech he thanked the ANC for choosing and trusting him to lead the municipality.

“This really is a blessing that one will cherish for the rest of one’s life, I also congratulate all newly elected councillors,” said the Mayor.

He also congratulated all political parties represented in council for their participation in the elections and reminded them that it is now time to work.

The Mayor requested all councillors to support the ruling party in execution of their responsibilities so that they may work in harmony.

He also pledged to serve the entire community of Msukaligwa Local Municipality with devotion.

“The issues of service delivery as stated in the manifesto of the ruling party will be given priority. In the same context, I extend the same gratitude to the leadership of the alliance partners,”said Mr Nkosi.

Mr Nkosi also paid homage to the outgoing Executive Mayor, Mr Sipho Bongwe, and his Mayoral Committee for his outstanding leadership.

The Mayor took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt condolences to the Ndlovu family for the loss of their teenaged daughter, Mbali Msibi, whose body was found near Mpumalanga Stadium in Wesselton last week.

Speaking for the DA, Mr H.F. Swart congratulated the new mayor and stressed the importance of service delivery, as it is the core function of the municipality.

“We say ‘opportunities’ for all the people and if that is the vision, you can be sure of our support.

“We will participate with integrity to ensure our council delivers to the people. However, we shall also hold the municipality accountable.”

Mr J.D. Blignaut for the Freedom Front Plus assured the Mayor of their support in anything that is fair and just to the community.

The Executive Mayor appointed his Mayoral Committee as follows: Ms Tunu Agnes “gogo Brown” Mnisi (Community Service and Public Safety), Ms Link Prudence Mnisi (Technical Service, Planning and Development) and Ms Elisabeth Cynthia Msezane (Finance and Corporate Services).
