Third house on fire in Secunda, cause unknown
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage
UPDATE: The owner of the house, Mr Nico Ferreira was on night-shift when he got the call that his house was on fire.
His wife and 4-year-old son were alone.
Mr. Ferreira said: ” I thank God my family did not get hurt.”
The garage burnt down completely and the fire was still smouldering at 9am. The inside of the house has been damaged by the smog.
Neighbours took in Mrs Ferreira and her son while Mr. Ferreira was outside in his car.

SECUNDA – A couple travelling to Lydenburg this morning witnessed a house on fire at about 4.29am.
They immediately called the fire brigade. At that stage, the garage was completely destroyed and the blaze moved to the adjacent flat on the premises.
The couple contacted the fire brigade and a female firefighter, without gear and a leaking hose pipe tried to extinguish the fire.
An eyewitness said that the fire brigade passed the house twice before they “saw” the fire.
They searched for help at the municipality but the gates were closed as they tried to alert officers.
It is not known what the full extent of the damage was.
