Khethiwe makes her class proud

“I felt special in class because everyone was celebrating.”

EVANDER – Khethiwe Khumalo, a Grade 6 pupil from TP Stratten Primary School, learned that everything is possible.

This was after she had won the Body Worlds Competition of a national magazine.

Body Worlds is an exhibition that aims at educating the public about the inner workings of the human body and shows the effects of poor health, good health and lifestyle choices.

“I do not enter every competition. I first check whether a competition is for my age and will benefit me,” said Khethiwe. She previously entered two competitions of the same magazine, but did not win.

Khethiwe said the day her mother told her that she had won the competition, she could not believe it and thought that because she had a tough day, her mother was trying to find something to cheer her up.

“I jumped with joy when I saw her at school to hand over the letter from the magazine. I felt special in class, because everyone was celebrating, especially when they were informed that the whole class was going to Johannesburg for the Body Worlds exhibition.”

Khethiwe would like to tell other young people not to stop trying to do good and they should also believe that they will achieve through perseverance. She plays netball and hockey and has now joined the school choir.

Becoming a doctor and an actress are her future aspirations.
