BREAKING NEWS: Two occupants of a vehicle transporting a load of cigarettes were shot and wounded in an armed heist between Ermelo and Breyten this morning.
The incident occured shortly after 10am near the Spitzkop mine. One person was shot in the leg while the other suffered a superficial wound.
A black Mercedes Vito used in the heist by the robbers was later apprehended near Clewer but the occupants got away by heading into a maize field. A search for the robbers is underway.
Police in the Middelburg area are in pursuit of the second vehicle, a white BMW sedan.
