Decomposed body found in Sasol

Family devastated and confused after the body of Ms Nkosi was found.

The decomposed body of Ms Popi Nkosi was allegedly found next to Dam B and C inside Sasol.

This was 10 days after she was reported missing.

Ms Nkosi left her home in eMbalenhle at about 11am on Friday, 27 November and said she was going to visit a friend in the neighbourhood.

The grieving family said they were advised by a neighbour who works for Sasol to contact the company’s security.

“We did and they confirmed that the body of a woman was found on the premises.

“We went to the government mortuary and identified her,” said a family member.

Mr Alex Anderson, head of Group Media Relations, said Sasol Security Services were alerted over the weekend that the body of an unknown woman was discovered near one of the process water dams in the secondary area of the Secunda plant.

He said Sasol Security Services immediately called the South African Police Services (SAPS) to the scene where an investigation is in progress.

“Further information on the incident is not available at this stage; however, every effort is being made to confirm the details as quickly as possible.

“Sasol is cooperating with all relevant authorities.

“All possible precautions and safety measures are in place to ensure the safety of all employees, service providers and community members.

“Further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.”

Lt Bettinah Zondo, police spokesman, confirmed the incident and said the police are investigating.
