Breaking news – Youngsters die in late night crash
The three youngsters died on impact.
Three young people, two males and a female, were killed instantly when the VW Golf they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck on the outskirts of Ermelo at about 00:30 on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred on the N11 between Ermelo and Hendrina at the intersection with OR Tambo Road.
Rescue workers from Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services used the jaws of life to free the bodies of the driver and front seat passenger from the wreckage. A third occupant was flung from the vehicle on impact.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
