Trichardt and Secunda areas again without power

Main substation in Trichardt which supplies electricity to affected areas exploded.

HIGHVELD – Residents of Trichardt and parts of Secunda have had no electricity since last night (30 November) due to an explosion at the main substation in Trichardt which supplies the affected areas.

The affects areas are Trichardt, Extension 22 and 23 in Secunda and the Secunda Mall area.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality said this morning that a team of technicians and electricians are on site fixing the problem and are trying to restore power as soon as possible.

It is anticipated that the power will be restored today.

“The municipality sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate event and is working tirelessly to restore the power.

“The community is requested to treat all electrical installation/equipment as live throughout the repair and thus advised to ensure that the electrical appliances are unplugged and switched off as the municipality will not be held reliable for any damages,” said the council’s spokesman.
