Vukta hold AGM

eMBALENHLE – The Vukanini Taxi Association made Mr Mandla Mbatha, a gardener, a member of the association.

This means Mr Mbatha, who has been working as a gardener for the past 30 years, will become a taxi owner.

This was announced by Mr Fanyana Sibanyoni, chairman, to the hundreds of taxi owners and drivers who attended the Vukanini Taxi Association 2015 Annual General Meeting at the eMbalenhle Sasol Club on Thursday, 19 November.

Mr Sibanyoni said the association prides itself on all the achievements they have made in the past six years of his administration.

He said the association has contributed a lot to the community and the taxi owners and drivers.

“We might be where we want to be, but we are no longer where we used to be.

“We are growing as an organisation and everybody can testify to that.

“We managed to feed about 115 disadvantaged families each month, donated 600 pairs of shoes to schools to the value of 90 000 and have hosted the many more social projects that made an impact during the last financial year.

“Let us continue working together to develop our association.”

Mr TDA Ngwenya, secretary, said the association is aiming at becoming a self sustaining industry which is a leader in mass transportation services.

“We want to have continuous improvements in transport services that are affordable, safe and reliable.

“Vukta is regarded as the best association in the province, if not in the country, and we are role models.

“We thank the unshakable support and determination shown by our colleagues in achieving this success.”

The association also rewarded the best performers of the year, including the best retired taxi owners.

Among the retired owners, Mr DA Mahlangu was commended for giving two taxi’s to his two drivers.
