March with Famsa

March will be supported by 120 orphaned and vulnerable children and 80 community advocators.

SECUNDA – Families South Africa (Famsa) Highveld Ridge’s aim is to preserve the family as the focal point of the society through rendering services such as counselling, training and developing the community.

In celebration and commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign against Women and Child Abuse, Famsa is planning an awareness march to provide information to the public about the importance of women and children’s safety and the zero tolerance of abuse towards this group.

The march is on Friday, 27 November at 11am and will be supported by 120 orphaned and vulnerable children and 80 community advocators.

“The main goal is to distribute pamphlets to the passers-by and to raise awareness about domestic violence and the negative impact it has on the community,” said Ms Catherine Mngobi, social auxiliary worker.

Marchers will come together at the parking bay in front of the Secunda Magistrate’s Court and will march past the library, the taxi rank, Standard Bank and KFC.

“We look forward to your participation in creating a safer society and a family-friendly community,” said Ms Marcelle Bester, director.
