Two arrested for possessing stolen goods

Both of them denied any knowledge.

Two men were recently arrested for possession of stolen property.

According to a police officer, a Stanwest resident informed him about someone who was seen carrying suspected stolen property.

The officer investigated and then applied for a search warrant from the Standerton Magistrate’s Court.

After receiving the warrant, he went to the same address where the man was seen with the property.

Upon arrival at the house, the officer found two people, the owner and her boyfriend.

He questioned them about the stolen goods that were allegedly in the house.

Both of them denied any knowledge and he produced the search warrant and went to work.

He found a cutting torch, a oxygen technical portapak, acetylene portapak and a red cutting portapak.

The portapak is used for welding, cutting, brazing, hardening, scarfing, flame cleaning and heating.

When he asked the owner who it belonged to, she said she did not know.

The man replied and said it belonged to her.

According to the officer, the woman then said her boyfriend brought the goods with him in the early hours of the morning.

The boyfriend was arrested and told the officer that one of his friends sold a compressor to someone in Stanwest.

The police went to that person who said the boyfriend sold the compressor for R3 000 to him.

The suspect in possession of the compressor was also arrested.

The Sakhile Police are investigating the case.
