Girl (6) fights for her life after gun went off

Father appeared in court on Monday.

SECUNDA – A 58-year-old man made a brief appearance in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court for negligently discharging a firearm on Monday, 17 August.

It is alleged that his daughter (6) was apparently shot accidentally in the chest and hand on 15 August at approximately 11pm in Trichardt.

She is fighting for her life in a hospital.

According to information, the suspect wrestled with his wife over possession of a firearm during an argument.

The girl apparently woke up from the noise and walked to where they were arguing.

Shots went off and the girl was wounded.

The police were summoned and the man was arrested.

He remains in custody pending bail application which was scheduled for a later date.
