Chrissiesmeer police arrested a 29 year old woman for concealing death of her newborn baby on Thursday.
The woman allegedly secretly gave birth on Tuesday to a baby boy on in her bedroom and did not inform her family members. The infant died due to unknown causes after birth and the woman kept quite in her room about the matter.
She was however seen by her younger sister on Thursday morning while burying the newborn wrapped with a blanket and put inside a cardboard.
The younger sister later informed her mother of what she had seen and the police were called in.
The suspect appeared in the Chrissiesmeer Periodical Court on Thursday and was denied bail as police await the forensics outcome to determine the couse of death.
