Video – Bethal farmer destroys blind woman’s house

Case postponed until 8 July.

BETHAL – Mr Trevor Friedman (42) appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on charges of malicious damage to property.

Mr Friedman allegedly demolished a blind woman’s (70) house on the Halfgewoonen Farm.

“I heard a noise from outside and my neighbours came in to tell me that a man on a tractor was demolishing her houses that was built by the Mpumalanga Premier, Mr David Mabuza,” she said.

According to Const Mahlatse Mogadime the house was not completed yet and was still waiting to be roofed.

Residents asked the man what was he doing, but he did not respond to them.

“He did it without uttering a word,” said residents.

“After waiting for a long time for the office of the Premier to come and finish the house, I decided to use my pension fund to buy the material to complete the house, because most of the people’s houses were completed.”

According to her she has been living on Mr Friedman’s farm for a long time and wanted to know where he wants them to go.

According to Const Mogadime the motive behind act is not known yet and the case for malicious damage to property was opened.

The case was registered and investigated.

Mr Friedman was arrested hence his appearance.

He was released on a warning and the case was postponed to Wednesday, 8 July for further investigation.
