Sewage is a big problem for Zwane family from Lebohang

No one visits because of stink.

LEBOHANG – The Zwane family is living under difficult circumstances because of the sewage problem which has been going on for two years.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality is aware of the problem and they keep promising the family that their problem will be solved.

Mr Jabulani Zwane said the local councillor called a meeting were he promised that the problem would be solved, but the family is still waiting to hear when the municipality will fix the problem.

“A company was hired to work on the sewage problem and they did work and left, but the problem is still here,” said Mr Zwane.

The family said they try not to use the toilets, but the problem is that they cannot knock on their neighbours door in the middle of the night to request to use their toilet.

If they close the main pipe which takes the sewage outside, everything goes inside the house.

The family is worried about the sewage problem, because no one wants to visit them anymore.

Their house is also affected because the whole yard is full of sewage.

The Mahlangu family who lives in the same street, is also experiencing the same problem.

The Zwane and Mahlangu families were not provided with mobile toilets to use while the municipality is still trying to find a solution.

The sewage also goes into the yard of the Petrus Maziya Primary School.

The cows that are grazing inside the school yard, drink the dirty water.

The Echo asked the Head of Marketing and Communications of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, Mr Henry Masango for comment, but he did not respond at the time of going to print.
