EFF protests over eMba Clinic

The Ecomonic Freedom Fighters marched against poor service delivery at the Extension 4 Clinic.

eMBALENHLE – Mr Vuyani Khoza, Gert Sibande District Department of Health Manager, gave the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party the silent treatment during their march against poor service delivery at the Extension 4 Clinic on Friday 10 April.

The EFF said the clinic staff members are incompetent, it offers poor service and that it works against the constitution of South Africa.

They said the nurses are giving their friends and family good treatment and are helped first.

They further said patients are often told that their files are missing and that this threatens the lives of the patients as there are then no records of their health history.

“Patients are queuing for many hours just to get service, while the nurses are chatting and playing with on phones.

“This is unprofessional and shows a lack of commitment by the staff members,” said Mr Kudumela Shai, Govan Mbeki municipal EFF branch manager.

Members of EFF also said that patients are often being told that there are no tablets available at the clinic.

“We demand an immediate intervention from the provincial health department.

“If this does not happen, we will take further steps.”

Mr Vuyani Khoza, district manager, was accompanied by his entourage that included Ms Pela, clinic manager, and Mr Ace Vilakazi, the newly appointed clinic committee chairman.

Mr Khoza received and signed the memorandum and left without saying one word.

The Ridge Time tried to talk with Mr Khoza, but Mr Sibusiso Mabuza, district communications staff member, refused and said the Mpumalanga Health Department MEC said they must not say anything or give a comment.

“You see this is just a political stunt and we cannot comment on such a political issue,” said Mr Mabuza
