River park becomes a dumping site

It once was a place of relaxation on the banks of the Vaal River where family and friends could spend a fun-filled day.

It is hard not to turn a blind eye when it comes to the condition of the Standerton River Park.

It once was a place of relaxation on the banks of the Vaal River where family and friends could spend a fun-filled day.

You could enjoy a braai, take a ride on the train, swim in the river or have a spot of fishing.

These days you are welcomed with overgrown grass, vandalised braai areas, a restaurant that is no more and litter can be seen all over, not to mention the sewage flowing for months now from a manhole in the caravan park.

One positive is the park chalets, which are well looked after.

The surrounding grass is well manicured by the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nafcoc).
