Armed robbery at Leandra Shell Garage

Case of robbery opened at the Leandra Police Station.

LEANDRA – A petrol attendant was shot during an armed robbery at the Shell garage.

Mr Pieter Brinkman, manager, said the robbery took place at 2.40am on Tuesday, 7 March.

The two petrol attendants were sitting in the waiting room when two men knocked on the locked door.

They held up an empty container and indicated that they wanted to buy petrol.

One of the attendants opened the door and the other one shot a petrol attendant in the right side of his body.

The robbers locked up the other attendant in the waiting room.

They went into the shop and stole an undisclosed amount of money, as well as cigarettes and left.

The injured petrol attendant, Mr Vusi Mahlangu, was taken to the Evander Hospital.

W/O Matrose confirmed that a case of robbery was opened at the Leandra Police Station and that no arrests had been made yet.
