Diesel bust comes to naught

Lack of evidence leads to release of suspected diesel thieves.

Acting on information received concerning possible diesel theft, members of the Acsu reaction squad swooped on a residence in Mabalisa Street, Wesselton last Tuesday afternoon and found more than 20 plastic containers, most of which were filled with diesel.

The 20 liter containers plus two empty 200 litre drums were stored in a back room on the property. Three suspects were apprehended but later released due to insufficient evidence linking them to the alleged theft.

Information obtained suggested that the diesel had been stolen from vehicles and storage facilities at a a construction site near the road between Ermelo and Amersfoort.. This could however not be proven and the suspects were released.
