Sasol’s website gets hacked

Sasol’s website is now restored and back to normal.

SECUNDA – Sasol’s website was hacked on Tuesday night by a group known as Hazmah Uygun, a pro-Palestine digital group.

According to Mr Alex Anderson, head of group media relations at Sasol, they suspect it was a young hacker who was trying to prove himself in the digital world.

“The hackers do it for bragging rights,” said Mr Anderson.

“We became aware that the landing page went down late Tuesday night and we began with corrective action right away.

“The initial step was to remove the hacked landing page and restore back up files for the entire website.

“The landing page was restored early on Wednesday morning.

“While this breach has had a limited impact on our website, which is an asset, we take it very seriously.

“Our internal digital, IT and our service providers are all currently underway with this investigation.

“Hacking is a criminal offense and should we establish what and who the party responsible is, we will undertake the necessary legal steps.”

The hackers made their achievement known on Zone-H, a website for the hackers.

Sasol’s website is back to normal again.
