Community meets with councillor

“Fighting and pointing fingers at each other will not help us.”

eMBALENHLE – Tension was high at the Gate 3 community meeting with the local councillor, Mr Douglas Mahlangu.

Residents expressed their frustrations regarding matters such as a need for speed humps, demarcation of land and service delivery.

They said Mr Mahlangu has neglected them and has not been performing his duties as a councillor.

Mr Mahlangu calmed the residents and promised better service delivery in the area.

“We need to unite and act maturely in dealing with the challenges that we are facing as a community.

“Fighting and pointing fingers at each other will not help us.”

Mr Mahlangu warned residents to not illegally invade land, but residents said they invade land because the municipality is not prioritising to ensure they get a land.

The youth asked Mr Mahlangu to put them on a priority list in case land gets available.

Mr Mahlangu said he will take the matter up.

He was accompanied by Mr Mangaliso Mashiane, mananger of Region 3 of the Govan Mbeki Municipality.
