Clean water wasted in Meyerville

The pipe however began to leak again and according to the resident, one of the workers simply put a plastic barrier on top of it and left.

Clean water has been leaking from a water pipe at the corner of Mulder and Ivan Streets in Meyerville for two weeks now.

“This specific pipe has been an issue for months,” a concerned resident said.

“It began to leak at the stop street a few months ago.

“The Lekwa Municipality dug up the ground and repaired the seal.”

The hole was left unfilled for a few weeks to make sure it was not leaking anymore and then filled up.

The pipe however began to leak again and according to the resident, one of the workers simply put a plastic barrier on top of it and left.

The water supply in Meyerville is disrupted weekly.

Water is seen flowing down Ivan Street towards the Vaal River.

Mr Louis Jansen van Rensburg, ward councillor for Meyerville, was contacted on 7 November and said he will attend to the issue immediately.
