Police arrest Fountain Bottle Store robbers

The Sakhile Police recovered a laptop that was recently stolen at the Fountain Bottle Store in Krogh Street.

The Sakhile Police recovered a laptop on 13 November that was stolen at the Fountain Bottle Store in Krogh Street earlier this month.

Thieves gained access through a hole that they cut into the corrugated iron in the roof.

Expensive bottles of whiskey, 25 cartons of cigarettes and a laptop were stolen.

“I was contacted by the police and they told me they found my laptop,” Mr Derick Mertz of Fountain Bottle Store said.

The laptop was discovered at a pawn shop in Sakhile.

According to Mr Mertz, the owner of the shop had read the article about the robbery in the Standerton Ibis on 14 November.

“I did not have a password on my laptop and when the owner went through my photos, he saw a picture of my father.

“He recognised my father and realised that the laptop must have been the one that was stolen. He contacted the police.”

The police, after further investigation, arrested three people and the laptop was returned to its owner.
