Roadcrete is rehabilitating the R23 between Standerton and Platrand on the Volksrust Road, as well as between Standerton and Greylingstad.
A source said the construction of the R23 road will take three years to complete.
There are currently ‘stop and go’ signs that control the traffic on the roads.
Employees currently working on the Volksrust Road stay in tents in an open field in Meyerville.
According to one of the employees more workers will join them for the duration of the project.
Three accidents have recently occurred on the Volksrust Road.
One major accident claimed 12 lives.
According to one of the workers motorist are not allowed to overtake at a ‘stop and go’ and signs are put up along the route.
He also said drivers ignore it and travel at a high speeds which cause the accidents.
