No load shedding today

Eskom advises people to still save electricity.

SECUNDA – Eskom said no load shedding is expected for today, 4 November as additional units have been returned from maintenance.

It said customers should contact their electricity providers should they have power outages, because it must be a local electricity problem.

“The risk of load shedding has reduced significantly and the prognosis for the week is better than expected.

“The system will however be under extreme pressure on Wednesday and Thursday as the water reserves that we built up over the weekend for our peaking plants will be depleted.

“Eskom is pleased to announce that work at Majuba Power Station has progressed better than anticipated and teams have worked non-stop since the incident on Saturday and have been able to connect coal feeder units which have enabled us to ramp up the supply from 600MW to 1 200 MW.

“Eskom would like to thank customers who have heeded the call to use electricity sparingly.

“Once again, we appeal to consumers to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day, but especially from 6pm to 10pm.

“Customers are urged to switch off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances to prevent the need for rotational load shedding.”

Eskom’s load shedding schedules are available for Eskom’s direct customers on their website https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/.
