Standerton SPCA is not closed

The Standerton Advertiser noticed on 24 October two dogs at the kennels and wondered, if it was closed and who was looking after these dogs.

Many residents in Standerton are under the impression that the SPCA has closed down, which is far from the truth.

According to Ms Maggie Mudd, national inspector of the SPCA, it is still open, the only difference being it was taken over by the Highveld Ridge SPCA in Secunda.

The Standerton Advertiser noticed on 24 October two dogs at the kennels and wondered, if it was closed and who was looking after these dogs.

“The SPCA is in dire need of some maintenance due to the lack of customers, I did not realise the community thought it was closed,” Ms Mudd said.

Trading hours are 8am to 4pm during the week and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.

They are closed on Sundays and public holidays but a staff member is permanently on site.
