Police ask people to mark their houses

“Because of inaccurate information given to us, we often go to the wrong address.”

eMBALENHLE – Local police urged residents to post visible stand numbers at their homes.

Capt Magonseni Nkosi, local spokesman, said the police struggle and are even delayed when they have to go to a house where crimes are reported, because most of the houses are unmarked.

“This gives us a disadvantage and people say we are not responding to the calls of residents.

“Residents must make sure that their home stand numbers and addresses are visible.”

He also urged residents to be accurate when they report crime telephonically and give all the necessary detail to the police, such as the extension and stand number.

“When we ask questions some people get irritated, but it is our duty to get all the necessary information to make sure we go to the right place.

“Because of inaccurate information given to us, we often go to the wrong address.”

Capt Nkosi asked the community not to misuse the emergency number 017 685 1341/2.
