Department of Correctional Services educates pupils
The Standerton Department of Correctional Services visited Jandrell Secondary School as part of their awareness campaign.
The Department of Correctional Services visited Jandrell Secondary School for a substance abuse awareness campaign on 25 September.
According to Mr Thuthukasizwe Ngcobo, unit manager, they wanted young people to know of the negative effects of drugs on their lives.
“The campaign is part of the Pocket of Excellence week, where the department showcases offenders ready to be integrated into the community,” Mr Ngcobo said.
The department aims to visit all the school in Sakhile as part of the campaign.
An offender addressed the pupils about the negative impact of substance abuse and explained how he ended up in prison.
