"A cold, calculating, manipulating and merciless woman."

“A cold, calculating, manipulating and merciless woman.”

This is how judge E. Francis described 20 year-old Anja Christina Broekman who was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment on a charge of murder in the Ermelo circuit court last week.

Earlier this year Broekman was found guilty of the murder of her former boyfriend, Quinton Morton in Volksrust in September 2010. Broekman, who was 16 years old at that time, coerced an accomplice, Francois Potgieter (24) into committing the murder by offering him sex. The two are cousins.

Potgieter confessed to the murder in 2012 and was subsequently sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.
