Truck gets stuck underneath bridge

On impact with the bridge, he lost the load he was transporting and it landed on the bonnet of a car travelling behind him.

A truck driver misjudged the height of the railway bridge on the way to the industrial area in Standerton in the early hours of 19 September.

On impact with the bridge, he lost the load he was transporting and it landed on the bonnet of a car travelling behind him.

Nobody was injured.

According to traffic officers on the scene, the driver said it was the first time he had been travelling through Standerton.

A crane was used to lift the container to release the car underneath it.

Traffic officers had to demarcate the area and motorists were instructed to use the R23 as an alternative route.
