The Lekwa Municipality has begun to upgrade roads in the Standerton CBD since 15 September.

The intersection of Krogh and Beyers Naudé Streets became a hive of activity the past week. “Our aim is to repair all the intersections and potholes in town,” Mr Sipho Mkwanazi, spokesman of the municipality, said. Mr Mkwanazi also said the municipality is doing everything in their power to attend to the state of the roads in town.

This forms part of the Road Section Graveling and Patching Annual Plan.

Potholes in the following streets have also been earmarked for repair:

Walter Sisulu Drive, Hlongwane Drive, Taljaard Street, Sydney de Lang Street, Vry Street, Princess Street, George Street and Johann Street.

According to the plan the programme will last for eight weeks and should be completed by October.

“It is good to see something positive by the municipality, our tax money is being spent wisely,” a motorist said when asked about the repairs.
