Ermelo: An elderly woman was tied up and assaulted in her home in Kleynhans Street shortly before 12 noon on Friday.
Three unknown young men jumped the security fence surrounding the property and entered the house.
They demanded money and keys to the safe.The assailants sprayed the woman with pepper spray and tied a pillow case over her head before hitting her behind her head with crowbar.
She was then tied up but managed to free herself and raise the alarm after the assailants had left.
Members of the neighbourhood watch were quick to respond and the police were summoned. SAPS forensic experts were on the scene and searched the property for clues.
At this stage it is not known what was stolen from the house.
Police investigations are continuing.
This was the third incident in the Ermelo area within two days.
The public has been warned to be vigilant all times as criminals are active at all times of the day and night.
