Man sentenced to 10 years for murder

Mphesheya Samuel Mkhwebane has been sentenced to 10 years for the murder of Mr Nkululeko Hlatswayo.

eMZINONI – The Hlatswayo family is not satisfied with the prison sentence handed to Mphesheya Samuel Mkhwebane who killed their son, Mr Nkululeko Hlatswayo, in October 2012.

Mkhwebane was found guilty at the Bethal Regional Court of murder and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and was declared unfit to possess a fire arm.

Ms Siphiwe Hlatshwayo, family member, said she is upset because Mkhwebane took an innocent life.

“My brother was young and he died too early.

“We were expecting a lot from him.

“He left a child behind who will grow up not knowing his father.

“It is unfair, now the child is my responsibility and it is not easy at all.

“However we thank the eMzinoni Police for making sure that Mkhwebane was arrested and charged.

“They have done well.”

Ms Cynthia Mtsweni, spokemen for the eMzinoni Police Station, said they received the court’s decision and thanked police officers who were involved in investigating the case.
