Police pray for crime-free South Africa

Lt Gen Christine Mbekela hosted a prayer revival to ask God for guidence and protection on Thursday, 28 August at the House of Praise Church.

eMBALENHLE – Unity and prayers will result in a crime free nation.

So said Lt Gen Christine Mbekela, deputy national commissioner of the South African Police Service, at a Mpumalanga Prayer Revival held at the House of Praise Church on Thursday, 28 August.

She hosted this revival with Lt Gen Thulani Ntombela, provincial commissioner of Mpumalanga, and police officers from all over the province attended the event.

Lt Gen Mbekela said South Africa needs divine intervention and help from God to help overcome crime.

“Prayer will liberate our country.

“Wise women are God fearing women and we need wailing women who will lament and pray for our country.

“God has all the answers we need.

“We thank the South African government for recognising women and for giving them an opportunity to lead.

“Now is the time for women to be paid back for the birth of a crime-free country, let us prove to our country that we are women of virtue and women of destiny.

“Though we are facing challenges in our families, work and in the community we must not let these pull us down.

‘’Rough seas make good sailors.’’

Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, led the house in praise and worship before delivering her welcoming note.

She quoted from John 19 verse 25: “Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.”

She also defined women as God’s masterpieces.

“It was women who stood and supported Jesus Christ.

“This shows that women have the ability to survive even through the toughest battles.

“As we close Women’s Month, let us continue to honour our heroines who fought against women abuse and promoting a non sexist democratic South Africa.

“This day is proving that the police are not cruel and heartless people, but good people who are serving their country.”

Bishop Ncongwane, Past Masechaba Seake, Apostle Beauty Tshabalala and other pastors led the prayers during various items such as praying for peace within the South African Police Service management, the healing of South Africa and of asking to have the youth delivered from alcohol and drug abuse.

Various dignitaries, senior government officials, local public representatives and other stakeholders also gave messages of support.
