Numsa aims for 15% wage hike

No deal yet as Numsa strike continues.

EVANDER – Striking National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) affiliated employees at the local branch of Form-Scaff are adamant that they will not back down on their demands.

They want 15 per cent across the board and R20 minimum wage increase and various other working demands.

The strike began on 25 August in all the company’s branches.

This was after a series of wage negotiation meetings and conciliation that deadlocked on 14 August at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration.

Mr James Mofokeng, shopsteward, said they will avail themselves for talks during the strike.

An employee confirmed on Monday, 1 September that the strike is continuing.

Officials from the company’s branch and head office did not comment at the time of going to print.
