Leandra residents need answers

Residents need the municipality to give answers about the water problems in Leandra and Lebohang.

LEANDRA – Residents are upset about the water problems they are facing daily.

They said the water crisis is getting out of hand and is now affecting teaching in schools.

“If there is no water, schools are not running smoothly which results in schools coming out earlier than the normal time.

“As parents we have to bath and prepare meals for our families.

“How can we do so if we do not have water?

“Water is a basic need.

“We are even scared that illnesses such as cholera will break out in our area because of this situation,” said a resident.

Mr Sanele Nkabinde, DA councillor, said he personally reported the matter to the Govan Mbeki Municipality, but nothing has been done yet.

“This is not fair.

“If the municipality is encountering problems regarding water, they should inform the residents.”

Mr Henry Masango, head of marketing and communication of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, said Council is working towards finding a permanent solution to the matter.
